Cuchulain Castle

This enormous circular motte is situated on a ridge to the west of Dundalk town. It is also known as Cúchulainn's Castle which suggests the motte may have been built on top of an earlier earthworks.

Blackrock with its promenade and sweeping views over Dundalk Bay to the Cooley Mountains, continues to attract visitors all year round. The Millennium Sundial,erected to mark the new millennium,is in the centre of the promenade.It is a unique feature and has become the symbol of contemporary Blackrock, as well as being a focal point for activity in the village centre. It is the largest sundial in a public place in Ireland.

King James Castle

The Medieval town of Carlingford in Co-Louth Ireland is dominated by the castle which rises majestically above the lough and offers magnificent views to the north, south and east. The castle was built by the great Norman lord Hugh de Lacy,but after king John of England spent the summer of 1210 in Carlingford the castle became known as King James Castle.
