Haulbowline Lighthouse.
Located at the entrance to Carlingford Lough Co. Down, during the month of August, will be illuminated in a unique symbolic act of commemoration.
This illumination is to commemorate the tragedy that happened 100 years ago when the collier Retriever collided with the passenger ferry Connemara. There was only one survivor and 94 souls lost their lives that day. The tragedy deeply affected the local community and the entire coast of Carlingford Lough.
